About Us

We are a family-owned & operated business.  Simon completed his apprenticeship and is fully qualified in Automotive Engineering (heavy equipment) in Rangiora and went on to the role of workshop foreman for Advantage Ford Rangiora.  Northern Tractors Services was established in 1996 following the closure of Advantage Ford Rangiora, Simon started up on his own maintaining & repairing the machines of clients.

As a qualified mechanic and handy with engineering, it wasn’t long before he needed to employ staff to keep up with demand.

In 2002 we were lucky to be introduced to the Valtra product and were quickly impressed with the build quality and ease of servicing.  We became an Agco dealer in 2017 focusing on the Valtra product and haven’t looked back.   With great sales, a fantastic product & innovations coming through, it’s exciting times for our business.  

Nowadays, with a competent team both in the workshop & the field, Simon focuses mostly on sales and managing the business but is still involved with the training of apprentices and puts his overalls on when required.  He still enjoys getting his hands dirty, problem-solving & keeping up with the new technology.

Here at Northern Tractor Services Ltd we still do everything, from basic services to engine overhauls, transmissions, clutches, repairs to farm Utes, loaders, diggers & general engineering both on-farm or in our fully equipped workshop.  As they say, “No job is too big or too small”.
